The model is ready in a minute. Manual modeling is only necessary for a specific tooth profile or a part to be machined.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"methode-toolbox\">Method 1: The Toolbox Gear (5 minutes)<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open or create an assembly (Toolbox inserts into an assembly, not into a part).<\/li>\n<li>Tasks pane (on the right) \u2192 tab <strong>Design Library<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Toolbox<\/strong>. If Toolbox is grayed out, enable the add-in: Tools \u2192 Add-ins \u2192 SOLIDWORKS Toolbox Library.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ISO<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Power Transmission<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Gears<\/strong> \u2192 slide <strong>Spur gear<\/strong> in the graph area.<\/li>\n<li>In the PropertyManager: <strong>Module<\/strong> (Ex. 2), <strong>Number of teeth<\/strong> (Ex. 24), <strong>Pressure angle<\/strong> (20\u00b0 by default), <strong>Face Width<\/strong>, hub type, nominal bore, keyway if required.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm. Repeat for the mating wheel with the same module. Position both at the theoretical center distance: (module \u00d7 (Z1 + Z2)) \/ 2.<\/li>\n<li>Constraint <strong>Gear<\/strong> (mechanical constraints) between the two to simulate rotation at the correct ratio.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"methode-main\">Method 2: By Hand (When the Number of Teeth Matters)<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Sketch of a primitive circle (diameter = module \u00d7 number of teeth), the head circle, and the foot circle.<\/li>\n<li>Draw a tooth: involute profile approximated by arcs (or import a calculated profile), symmetric about the tooth axis.<\/li>\n<li>Extrude the tooth, then <strong>Circular Repetition<\/strong> of the function (number of occurrences = number of teeth).<\/li>\n<li>Extrude the body, bore, and keyway.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This method produces a native, editable, and exportable part, but the tooth profile remains an approximation: for precision machining, we start with the geometry provided by the tool manufacturer.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"piege\">The Pitfall to Watch Out For<\/h2>\n<p>A Toolbox gear is linked to the library. If you send the assembly to a partner who doesn't have Toolbox, the part won't resolve correctly; and if you modify the Toolbox part, you'll modify the library for all your projects.
