Recommended parameters<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Do you need primary and secondary revisions?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By default, only the primary revision is active (A, B, C&#8230;), but you can configure your platform to allow secondary revision (A.2, A.3&#8230; then B.1, B.2&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>Primary revisions are mainly used for a <strong>major <\/strong>new version of an object, while secondary revisions are used for <strong>minor <\/strong>updates and<strong> internal iterations<\/strong> of an object.<\/p>\n<p>Tip: for smaller companies, use the default settings (primary revisions only):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" height=\"150\" style=\"height: auto; width: 654px;\" src=\"https:\/\/dspart005-eu1-partners-3dswym.3dexperience.3ds.com\/api\/media\/streammedia\/id\/IrDxyeFCQ82hWYxeKsJBcg\/type\/picture\/key\/o1\/update\/890b3ec37d7471a75884265a4dc338ac\" width=\"654\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>For larger companies, or if you have specific needs, you can use primary and secondary revisions:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" height=\"145\" style=\"height: auto; width: 624px;\" src=\"https:\/\/dspart005-eu1-partners-3dswym.3dexperience.3ds.com\/api\/media\/streammedia\/id\/e5_A5ExcSIqU9c7JatuwfQ\/type\/picture\/key\/o1\/update\/9eb5aa667eb29284725303c782fe0731\" width=\"624\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"hs-callout-type-warning\" data-hs-callout-type=\"warning\">\n<p>Please note: if an object is saved on the platform, its revision index cannot be modified. Changing parameters will only affect new components. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Choose your revision parameters before importing SOLIDWORKS data!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>How to activate primary and secondary?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First, let&#8217;s access the <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.xdinnovation.eu\/knowledge\/navigation-dans-la-plateforme-3dexperience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Platform management&#8221; dashboard.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Go to the &#8220;Content&#8221; tab and the &#8220;Collaborative spaces configuration center&#8221; application.<\/p>\n<p>In the &#8220;Lifecycle and collaboration&#8221; section, you can choose to have only primary revisions (A, B, C&#8230;) or primary and secondary revisions (A.1, A.2, A.3, B.1&#8230;):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"344\" style=\"height: auto; width: 688px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-28-2023-02-35-53-0744-PM.png\" width=\"688\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"hs-callout-type-warning\" data-hs-callout-type=\"warning\">\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> In order to activate secondary revisions, it is necessary to deactivate the &#8220;Classic minor revisions&#8221; option in the &#8220;Classic revision behavior&#8221; drop-down menu.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Need another review character?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not used to working with letters for your revisions, or if you have specific processes, you have several options to choose from:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"129\" style=\"height: auto; width: 344px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-27-2023-03-15-51-0544-PM.png\" width=\"344\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>You can have revision schemes like: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3&#8230; Then 2.1, 2.2, 2.3&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>To choose your setting, go to the &#8220;Revision naming rules&#8221; section:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"342\" style=\"height: auto; width: 688px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-28-2023-02-41-56-8111-PM.png\" width=\"688\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>2. Best practices<\/h3>\n<p>Depending on your access rights in 3DSpace, you can customize the platform to suit your processes. In 3DSpace, you can be either : Contributor, Author or Responsible &amp; Owner. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>By default, the author cannot Distribute objects<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For example, the head of the design department can be a Manager, while designers can be Authors.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prevent revisions on &#8220;in-process&#8221; objects.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The last thing you want is someone working on a revision that isn&#8217;t the most recent. To avoid this, let&#8217;s prohibit the creation of new revisions on &#8220;In process&#8221; objects. <\/p>\n<p>(optionally, you can also do this for &#8220;Frozen&#8221; objects).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"309\" style=\"height: auto; width: 688px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-28-2023-03-00-38-2953-PM.png\" width=\"688\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Manager should NOT be able to modify &#8220;frozen&#8221; content.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By default, the 3DSpace Manager can always edit &#8220;frozen&#8221; content. Disable this option to avoid this. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" height=\"182\" style=\"height: auto; width: 688px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-28-2023-03-23-34-4512-PM.png\" width=\"688\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Creating transition rules for maturity<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This can enable you to prevent the Dsitribution of an object if the user is an &#8220;author&#8221; or if a more recent revision already exists.
