This article describes the various steps involved in adding attributes to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.<\/p>\n

Properties and attributes.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n

A property (SOLIDWORKS) or attribute (3DEXPERIENCE) is data with a name<\/strong>, type<\/em> and value.<\/span><\/p>\n

For example, the property:[Material<\/strong>, text<\/em>, Tempered steel<\/span>].<\/p>\n

They can be assigned to parts<\/strong>, assemblies<\/strong> or drawings<\/strong> to access or assign data (such as a supplier name, revision number or last modification date).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

We’ll start by looking at how to create attributes on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. First, open the Platform Manager<\/strong> and click on the Content<\/strong> tab. <\/li>\n
  2. Scroll down to find the Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center<\/strong> application. Double-click on the name to <\/span>display it full-screen. <\/li>\n
  3. In the left-hand menu, click on Attributes Management<\/strong> then, using the search tool on the right, search for“Physical Products<\/strong>“. <\/li>\n
  4. Click on \u2795 to create a new attribute. The creation menu appears: \n

    There are several options in this menu:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n


    <\/p>\n

      \n
    • Property type<\/strong>: This can be a string, a Boolean (Yes\/No), a date or a number. <\/li>\n
    • The property name<\/strong> is important, as it is what the platform will use to interact with SOLIDWORKS. It must therefore be short, meaningful and must not contain any special characters. <\/li>\n
    • The title<\/strong> is what will be displayed in the platform interface when we search for our<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n

      For example, if we want to create a property for the name of the supplier of a part, we’ll have :<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Type<\/strong>: character string<\/li>\n
      • Name<\/strong>: Supplier_Name<\/li>\n
      • Title <\/strong>: Supplier name <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
          \n
        • Mandatory<\/strong> attributes: If an attribute is mandatory, you can’t save a file without first filling it in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n

          5. Once you’ve clicked on OK <\/strong>to save the attribute, click on Apply to make sure it’s taken into account. <\/p>\n

          <\/p>\n

          6. Now that we’ve created the attribute, we’ll link it to SOLIDWORKS so that we can use it. Return to the Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center<\/strong> application(Step 2<\/em>). In the same menu as Attributes Management, scroll down until you find the“CAD Collaboration<\/strong>” function. Then click on SOLIDWORKS<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

          <\/p>\n

          7. Depending on the type of component to which you wish to apply the attribute (Assembly, Part or Plan), scroll to the corresponding menu, then click on the \u2795.<\/p>\n

          <\/p>\n

          8. In the window that opens, you can select the attribute you have created, and choose the direction in which the information is transferred between the platform and SOLIDWORKS.<\/p>\n

          <\/p>\n

          9. Click Apply and then Apply again to save the attribute correctly.<\/p>\n

          10. To make sure the platform takes our changes into account, we’ll go to the Deployment configuration tab.  <\/p>\n

          In the“Configuration and Server Utilities<\/strong>” section, click on Update Index Model <\/strong>, then on Reload cache<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

          11. Finally, in the Attributes Propagation<\/strong> section, click on Search<\/strong> then Propagate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

          <\/p>\n

          Your attributes are now linked to SOLIDWORKS and can be used as follows \ud83d\udc4d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
