Drawing &#8211; Changing the projection standard in SOLIDWORKS"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Introduction<\/h3>\n<p>Is your part projected in the wrong direction when drawing? Your projection standard is probably not the right one. In this article, we&#8217;ll look at how to switch from the US view projection standard to the EU view projection standard.  <\/p>\n<h3>Change projection mode<\/h3>\n<p>By default, the drawing model used by SOLIDWORKS is the <strong>American<\/strong> view projection mode. At the end of these few steps, we&#8217;ll have set up our drawing in <strong>European<\/strong> view projection mode. <span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">We&#8217;ll use this part with a circular and a rectangular end to illustrate the change.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" height=\"241\" style=\"width: 319px; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-26-2023-09-38-32-4973-AM.png\" width=\"319\" loading=\"lazy\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" height=\"219\" style=\"width: 268px; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-26-2023-09-39-03-5339-AM.png\" width=\"268\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After creating the drawing and projecting the part, we obtain this result:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-26-2023-09-51-02-8863-AM.png\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>To change the projection mode :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. In the Features Manager tab (left), right-click on<strong>&#8220;Sheet 1<\/strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-26-2023-09-53-14-4950-AM.png\" loading=\"lazy\"><strong>&#8220;<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">then select &#8220;<\/span><strong>Properties<\/strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" style=\"font-size: 1rem;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-26-2023-09-52-54-5484-AM.png\" loading=\"lazy\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">&#8220;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">. Then, at the top of the window, in the<strong>&#8220;Projection type&#8221;<\/strong> box, select <strong>Europe<\/strong> and click on<strong>&#8220;Apply changes<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>This gives the following result:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-26-2023-09-58-15-7762-AM.png\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<h3>Save as template<\/h3>\n<p>To ensure that the change of projection mode is taken into account for <strong>all future drawings, <\/strong>you can save your drawing as a local or 3DEXPERIENCE <strong>model <\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>I. Registering with 3DEXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>By registering your model on 3DEXPERIENCE, you can make it available to all platform users, easily and securely.<\/p>\n<p>1. First, click on<strong>&#8220;File<\/strong>&#8221; then select<strong>&#8220;Save as template<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-26-2023-12-17-56-6807-PM.png\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>The following window will open:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"258\" style=\"width: 256px; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-26-2023-12-28-02-4349-PM.png\" width=\"256\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>After choosing a name and possibly a description for the model, it can be saved on the common space (the server) of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in two states of maturity:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Released<\/strong> (Distributed)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Private<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"hs-callout-type-note\" data-hs-callout-type=\"note\">\n<p>For more information on <strong>maturity states<\/strong>, click &#8220;here&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>2. Local recording<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;1. Click on<strong>&#8220;Drawing.DRWDOT<\/strong>&#8221; then click on<strong>&#8220;Save<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Each time you create a new drawing, it will automatically be based on the template you&#8217;ve just created. This means you no longer need to manually modify the projection parameters for each individual drawing.
