Share 3D files with a direct link"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Introduction<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The<strong>&#8220;Share<\/strong>&#8221; function enables SOLIDWORKS users to share their 3D designs (part, assembly, drawing) with anyone. <strong>The 3D<\/strong> can then <strong>be viewed, annotated, measured and exploded<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<div class=\"hs-callout-type-note\" data-hs-callout-type=\"note\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Advantage: the person receiving the design doesn&#8217;t need to have SOLIDWORKS or any other role. All <strong>they need is access (a free account) to 3DEXPERIENCE<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Note: This command is only available in SOLIDWORKS 2023 SP3 or later.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Activate the sharing function on the platform<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By default, this function is not activated. Go to the<strong>&#8220;Content<\/strong>&#8221; tab in<strong>&#8220;Platform Management<\/strong>&#8221; and activate it. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" height=\"318\" style=\"height: auto; width: 688px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Aug-24-2023-03-09-38-4885-PM.png\" width=\"688\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: Generate a share link<\/h3>\n<p>Open the 3D file you wish to share, then click on<strong>&#8220;Share<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"1-Apr-24-2024-12-07-38-0164-PM\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"544\" style=\"height: auto; width: 537px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/1-Apr-24-2024-12-07-38-0164-PM.jpg\" width=\"537\" loading=\"lazy\">Choose the recommended 3DXML file format, then click<strong>&#8220;Download<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This will generate a URL link containing the 3D model.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"2-Jun-19-2024-09-49-03-1955-AM\" class=\"hs-image-align-left\" height=\"346\" style=\"height: auto; width: 324px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/2-Jun-19-2024-09-49-03-1955-AM.jpg\" width=\"324\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can then :<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. Enter the email address of the person you wish to send the link to, then<strong>&#8220;Share<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">OR<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. Uncheck the<strong>&#8220;Restrict access<\/strong>&#8221; option and click on<strong>&#8220;Copy external link<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<h3>Step 3: View the shared file<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The copied link simply needs to be pasted into a web browser. Then simply log in\/create a 3DEXPERIENCE account and view the file! <\/p>\n<div class=\"hs-callout-type-tip\" data-hs-callout-type=\"tip\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tip: Create an account for your recipient yourself, and send them the login details along with the URL link!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"3-Jun-19-2024-09-52-14-6331-AM\" class=\"hs-image-align-none\" height=\"308\" style=\"height: auto; width: 688px;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/3-Jun-19-2024-09-52-14-6331-AM.jpg\" width=\"688\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>The<strong>&#8220;Tools<\/strong>&#8221; tab lets you make exploded views, measurements and annotations.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 4: Manage shared links<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The generated share links are stored in the<strong>&#8220;Shared with outside<\/strong>&#8221; folder of the 3DDrive application.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"145\" style=\"height: auto; width: 560px;\" src=\"https:\/\/dspart005-eu1-partners-3dswym.3dexperience.3ds.com\/api\/media\/streammedia\/id\/psRVwYmjTdKsADdobinuDg\/type\/picture\/key\/o1\/update\/60f3b759c7f64b2d216381f8bbded6b1\" width=\"560\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If necessary, the platform administrator can revoke access to one or more shared files before their expiry date. This may be necessary if a user has inadvertently shared a file that should not be accessible to external stakeholders. <\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now you can share your files in just a few clicks!
