In this article, you’ll learn how to use the“Verified by<\/strong>” and“Verified on”<\/strong> properties and display them on your drawings. They will enable you to track your validation process automatically! <\/p>\n

Here’s an overview of what you can achieve by following this tutorial.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Create a room.<\/h4>\n

Create any geometry in SOLIDWORKS and save it.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Create a drawing.<\/h4>\n

You can create one from this part by clicking on New > Create drawing from part<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 3: Create your drawing properties.<\/h4>\n

Go to your drawing’s custom properties via File > Properties > Custom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Create properties named“Verified by<\/strong>” and“Verified on”<\/strong>(or any other relevant name).<\/p>\n

In the Value\/text expression<\/strong> field, from the drop-down menu, select respectively: “Approved [1] (ea_releasedby.1)” and “Approved on [1] (ea_releaseddate.1)”.<\/p>\n

Step 4: Modify the sheet format.<\/h4>\n

Right-click on“Sheet 1<\/strong>“, choose“Edit background<\/strong>” and create your title block.<\/p>\n

    Step 5: Add your properties to your cartridge.<\/h4>\n

    First, add an annotation by clicking on“Note<\/strong> ” and insert it in your title block.<\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    In the Text format<\/strong> menu, click on the“Link to a property<\/strong>” icon. Select“Current document<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

    In the Property name<\/strong> drop-down menu, choose the property you’ve created (for example, “Verified by”).<\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    The value displayed is visible in“Evaluated value”<\/strong>. Click on OK<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

    Your property is now successfully displayed on your drawing.<\/h4>\n

    We recommend that you create a template containing this property field, so that it is automatically filled in for each drawing.<\/p>\n

    For 3DEXPERIENCE users :<\/h4>\n

    Once your layout has been validated, you’ll need to save it again so that the fields are visible on the platform.<\/p>\n

    Here’s how to save a validated drawing<\/strong> without creating a new revision:<\/p>\n

    Step 1:<\/strong> In SOLIDWORKS, open the MySession<\/strong> tab, click on the drop-down menu and select Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Step 2:<\/strong> Then click on“Login details”<\/strong> and choose“Owner<\/strong>” for the corresponding collaborative space (in most cases, this is “Common Space”).<\/p>\n

    You can now save the validated file. Don’t forget to reset your credentials after saving. <\/p>\n
