Step 1: create custom attributes (optional)<\/h3>\n

If you haven’t already, you can create custom attributes (properties) to be used in your designs. This can include Project Number, Supplier name, Finish type… <\/p>\n

It’s all explained in this article.<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 2 : creating the template<\/h3>\n

1. Create a drawing containing a part or assembly<\/p>\n

2. Insert a new detail sheet<\/p>\n

3. Create a table using the “Table Template” command from the “Template” tab<\/p>\n

4. Click a cell of the table and the “Link Template” dialog box will appear<\/p>\n

5. Browse to find the required attribute (cf HELP below) and click insert<\/p>\n

6. Repeat to create your desired table template containing all attributes required<\/p>\n

HELP: Finding all the attributes you want to add can be (very) difficult. Contact us if you can’t find what you’re looking for! <\/p>\n

Here are some examples to help you:<\/p>\n

Title, <\/strong>Revision, <\/strong>Maturity, Owner… <\/strong>: <\/strong>Package = Core Model ; Name = PLMCoreReference<\/p>\n

Material: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last modification date of drawing: <\/strong>Package = Drafting ; Name = Drawing<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sheet Size: <\/strong>Package = Drawing & Layout ; Name = Sheet<\/p>\n

EIN (Enterprise Item Number): <\/strong>Package = Enterprise Reference ; Name = Enterprise Information<\/p>\n

Sheet page number:<\/strong> Right click on table cell> Insert> Insert Attribute link> Sheet Number<\/p>\n

Inserting an image:<\/strong> Right click on table cell> Insert> Insert picture<\/p>\n

7. IMPORTANT<\/strong>: rename this table<\/p>\n

You have to name it with the prefix “TitleBlock_”<\/strong> for the table to be recognized as a template. I know, it’s weird. <\/p>\n

8. Save the drawing<\/p>\n

Optional: freeze or release the drawing so no one can modify your template.<\/p>\n

Step 3: test your template<\/h3>\n

1. Create any new drawing containing a part or assembly<\/p>\n

2. Select “View Layout” command and select “Dress-up DS 1”.<\/p>\n

In “Title Block” section, select the magnifying glass icon to browse for your template.<\/p>\n

3. Click “instantiate” and ok to apply the template<\/p>\n

4. Update the values<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the values are not updated instantly. You must “route” the link so it displays the correct values. I know, it’s a shame, but it’s easy. <\/p>\n

Right-Click and choose“Route Link Template<\/strong>” command.<\/p>\n
