The first step is to familiarize yourself with the concept of maturity. This will enable you to better manage revisions and branches in the future.  <\/p>\n<h3>Understanding the object maturity cycle<\/h3>\n<p>The use of revision must be part of a design -&gt; validation -&gt; distribution process, and is therefore intimately linked to the lifecycle of your CATIA files.<\/p>\n<p>Each file saved on 3DEXPERIENCE has the following states of maturity:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"264\" style=\"width: 688px; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Sep-27-2023-03-23-37-3290-PM.png\" width=\"688\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Processing<\/strong>: this is the default state &#8211; you can modify and save the object as you wish.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Frozen <\/strong>: this is a temporary state &#8211; the object is read-only. You can always return to the &#8220;In progress&#8221; state. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Used when the part is in&nbsp;<strong>waiting for validation<\/strong>. This prevents your colleagues from accidentally modifying the file, should it be used in other assemblies. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Distributed <\/strong>: this is a definitive state. It is not possible to return to the &#8220;In process&#8221; or &#8220;Frozen&#8221; status. The file is read-only forever.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Usually, you launch an object to indicate that it is going into <strong>production<\/strong>, and create the associated STEP, PDF or DXF files&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The usual process is as follows:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"100\" style=\"width: 620px; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/image-png-Oct-05-2023-02-05-41-4504-PM.png\" width=\"620\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<h4>2. Modify maturity status across the platform<\/h4>\n<p>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.xdinnovation.eu\/knowledge\/droits-dacc%C3%A8s-aux-donn%C3%A9es-solidworks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bookmark Editor<\/a> application and click on the maturity to modify it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"maturity\" class=\"hs-image-align-center\" height=\"174\" style=\"width: 669px; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/8764694.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/8764694\/maturit%C3%A9.jpg\" width=\"669\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>Change to<strong>&#8220;Frozen<\/strong>&#8221; if you want to create a revision, but it has not yet been published.<\/p>\n<p>Change to<strong>&#8220;Distributed<\/strong>&#8221; if your file will be manufactured and converted (STEP, PDF&#8230;).<\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re working alone or in a large team, maturities help you restrict modifications, create revisions, and generally streamline collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s integrated into 3DEXPERIENCE and sets the new standard for design.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;re now ready to create revisions, whether for <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.xdinnovation.eu\/knowledge\/3.-cr%C3%A9er-des-versions\/r%C3%A9visions-de-fichiers-2\" rel=\"noopener\">SOLIDWORKS<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.xdinnovation.eu\/knowledge\/cr%C3%A9er-des-versions\/r%C3%A9visions-de-fichiers\" rel=\"noopener\">CATIA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><em>Need help?&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em>We look forward to hearing from you!
