Frequently Asked Questions About the Sovereign Cloud

What exactly is a sovereign cloud?

A cloud service hosted and operated under French or European law, without being subject to foreign legislation such as the U.S. Cloud Act. In practice, your data remains in France, with a provider not subject to extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Does the U.S. Cloud Act apply if my data is hosted in France?

Yes, if your web hosting provider is a U.S. company or a subsidiary of a U.S. company, regardless of the country where the servers are located. Outscale, a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes, a French group, is not subject to this requirement.

What is the SecNumCloud certification?

The security framework from ANSSI, the French cybersecurity authority. Unlike traditional security certifications, it requires verified immunity from extraterritorial laws. Available as an option with this offering.

What does cloud managed services cover, and what does it not cover?

Managed IT services include monitoring, backups, updates, and securing the infrastructure. Regulatory compliance for your application data (GDPR, industry-specific regulations) remains your responsibility, regardless of the service provider.

Where is the data hosted on the Outscale Dassault Systèmes cloud?

In France, at Outscale, a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes. Ohmycad sets up this infrastructure and manages it on a daily basis on your behalf.

Is it possible to switch cloud providers without losing your data?

Yes. Reversibility is included in the offer. It is not a paid option.
