Context
When working on a project, the designer may have to share his 3D with his subcontractor for the manufacturing stage. The subcontractor may consider a few modifications to the design to make the project viable.
To avoid problems of traceability or lost modifications, 3DEXPERIENCE offers a simplified and comprehensive system.
Prerequisites
Both designer and subcontractor must have :
- SOLIDWORKS Connected or Desktop
- 3DEXPERIENCE Exchange for SOLIDWORKS add-on (download here)
Step 1: 3D export by the designer
Once the 3D has been completed and saved, the designer must now export it to his subcontractor.
Use the“Export as Package” tool in the 3DEXPERIENCE tab to do so.

Step 2: 3D modification by the subcontractor
Once the 3D export has been received from the designer, the subcontractor can import it, modify it and export it again for the designer.

Step 3: Import of 3D modified by the designer
The designer can then look at the elements directly modified by the subcontractor, and easily adapt his design.
