These offers let you choose the experience that best suits your needs, whether for design, simulation or collaboration.
These three versions are available in three acquisition modes:
- Purchase with annual maintenance
- No-obligation annual subscription
- Quarterly subscription with no commitment
The Dassault Systèmes price list adjusts accordingly.
An example of Standard version pricing according to subscription mode (PSC/QSC/YSC):
As explained above, there are now 3 “commitment” modes: Purchase (PSC), annual subscription (YSC), quarterly subscription, monthly billing (QSC). Let’s compare prices on SolidWorks Standard
- Purchase of SolidWorks Standard (PSC): price reduced from €6,000 excluding VAT to €6,300 excluding VAT. The maintenance contract increases from 1500€ HT to 1824€ HT (152€ HT per month). Note that it is now compulsory to order two years of maintenance contract with your first purchase. The SolidWorks Standard license therefore costs €9948 plus VAT.
- Subscription to SolidWorks (annual commitment – YSC): the cost is €290 (excl. VAT) per month, billed annually.
- Subscription to SolidWorks (quarterly commitment): the cost is €348 ex-VAT per month, billed monthly.
Depending on your needs, you can choose between these three versions and three commitment modes. You can also combine options, for example by taking out an annual subscription and two quarterly subscriptions for one premium and two standard stations. This allows you to be more agile, to manage peak workloads and, conversely, periods of low activity in your design office.
As you can see, you still have the option ofpurchasing SolidWorks (PSC), but more and more customers are opting for the much more flexible subscription solution. This option is available not only for SolidWorks, but also for all complementary roles (modules). You can download PDF documentation on 3DEXPERIENCE pricing, ABAQUS pricing and more.
What’s the difference between a subscription and a rental SolidWorks license?
- Leasing is an offer available on older ” On Premise” licenses. Two options are available: short-term leasing (QLC or YLC) or financial leasing over 36 or 60 months. The latter is similar to a LOA or LLD, with a commitment over 24, 36 or 60 months.
- SolidWorks subscription is only available on new versions(QSC or YSC) of 3DEXPERIENCE. These versions are non-binding (beyond the subscription period).
Even if these different offers may seem complex, we are moving closer to market standards to simplify the process. For all the advantages you’ll find in the various presentations, you’ll understand that we’re gradually moving towards a subscription-based 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS offering as the most widespread solution.
Given the change in Dassault Systèmes’ commercial policy, from July 1, 2023 onwards, the most economical solution for purchasing SolidWorks will be a YSC (annual subscription) or QSC (quarterly subscription).Purchasing is no longer the cheapest solution, while SolidWorks rental is gradually evolving towards a no-commitment subscription.
It is important to note that second-hand licenses do not currently comply with Dassault Systèmes’ rights of use. There are also many ways to obtain a free or trial version of SolidWorks. See the blogs on our site for more information on these topics.
SolidWorks promotions and discount coupons are sometimes available. Be sure to check their validity.

What are the advantages of a Solidworks subscription?
Subscribing to SOLIDWORKS offers many advantages over traditional license purchases. Here are a few points to bear in mind:
- Lower up-front costs: Subscription means lower up-front costs, as you pay a monthly or annual subscription instead of a substantial investment in permanent licenses.
- Flexibility:Monthly or annual subscription: You can choose the duration of your subscription to suit your needs.
- Scalability: You can add or remove licenses as your business grows.
- Access to the latest versions: Subscription guarantees automatic access to updates and new versions of SOLIDWORKS, without the hassle of manual updating.
- Cloud options: 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS subscriptions include cloud functionalities for flexible, collaborative working. For example, PDM, often offered as an option with older licenses, is now included in the SOLIDWORKS subscription, bringing considerable benefits, enabling you to tailor licenses to the specific needs of your design office. You can also customize “license options” to suit your projects. These options, now called“3DEXPERIENCE Roles” and numbering 300, are available on a quarterly or annual rental basis. Roles offer advanced calculation, manufacturing and rendering functionalities. A comparison of the functionalities of the licenses (Standard, Professional, Premium), as well as a full description of all the roles, is available via our Ohmycad teams.
In conclusion, a SOLIDWORKS subscription is ideal for companies looking for flexibility, low initial costs and constant access to the latest innovations. Nevertheless, purchasing licenses may prove more beneficial for companies favoring a more traditional approach.
Are there SolidWorks awards for students, Makers and startups?
The solidworks price list is very comprehensive (not to say complex :)). Which SolidWorks license “commitment” should I choose?
Sometimes you’ll find acronyms. Each one represents a type of license. Remember that your choice depends on the type of license and the duration of your commitments.
- QSC ( Quaterly Service Charge ) : 3DExperience quarterly subscription (monthly billing)
- YSC ( Annual Service Charge ) : 3DExperience Annual Subscription (Annual Billing)
- PSC ( Perpetual Service Charge ) : Perpetual Service Charge (PSC): Perpetual right to use 3DExperience (One time billing). Attention SolidWorks PSC licenses are, from January 1, 2023, necessarily associated with an ASC subscription.

Yes! Contrary to popular belief, CATIA is accessible to small structures, thanks to flexible cloud offers and targeted business roles. Ohmycad supports startups in their adoption of CATIA with training, support and tailored offers.
The CATIA solution enables you to design parts and products with great precision, thanks to advanced parametric and surface modeling, perfectly suited to complex mechanical design projects. It also facilitates the creation and management of complex assemblies, offering powerful tools for structuring, verifying and evolving multi-component assemblies. Kinematic and dynamic simulation functionalities enable the behavior of mechanisms to be analyzed, movements to be validated and performance to be anticipated right from the design phase. The design of sheet metal parts, plastics and industrial molds is supported by dedicated tools designed for industrialization and manufacturing. Native integration with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform connects design, simulation and data management in a single environment. Finally, cloud collaboration combined with centralized product data management (PDM) ensures efficient, secure, real-time collaboration between all teams. Ohmycad experts recommend upgrading from CATIA V5 to CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE to benefit from the full power of the cloud-based tool.
CATIA is designed for engineers, designers, project managers and manufacturers who need a robust, collaborative and scalable design environment. It is used by large corporations as well as SMEs and innovative start-ups. Ohmycad offers a startup program to make industrial software accessible even to cash-poor companies, and provides free access to CATIA for 1 year (with no commitment). Users are often former users of software such as Solidworks who find themselves technically limited when it comes to technical design.
