Interview – La Ruche à Vélos

Lucie P-L: “Could you please introduce yourself?”
Guillaume C: “My name is Guillaume Chaumet, I’m 23 years old, and I live in Nantes. I co-founded the The Bike Hive ”with two friends from school two years ago."
L: “What’s the concept behind La Ruche à Vélo ? ”
G: “It’s an automated and secure bike parking solution. The way it works is that the user can come, place their bike in a bay, and then a machine will automatically retrieve it and store it in a storage area. This means the bike will be protected from the elements and, most importantly, will enjoy maximum security.”
L: “What are your needs and challenges when it comes to 3D design?”
C: “All of our needs and challenges will be addressed in the design of the parking garage. So this includes all the 3D modeling, as well as the design of the machined parts, and then the integration of the commercial elements to create the final model.”
L: “Why did you choose 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS ? ”
C: “We chose it because we are part of the SOLIDWORKS Startup program. I hadn't heard of this solution at all before. So we gave it a try. It's true that we're really getting to know what it's all about now.
”The platform lets us share and work together. There are three of us working on the design. The platform is actually pretty good for collaboration."
L: “In your opinion, what are the two or three aspects that best characterize the platform?”
- “Actually, I'd say collaborative work, drive-through work"
- The ability to view the documents as well
- ”And then there's the fact that having a platform gives you access to the various SOLIDWORKS solutions"
L: “What do you think is the platform’s real added value?”
C: “Yes, for us it’s more about collaborative work, being able to all work on the same design at the same time.”
L: “A few words about your experience with XDI?”
C: “The XDI service was included in the startup package, which lets us ask experts questions whenever we need to. Most importantly, it also provides us with guidance as we explore 3DEXPERIENCE.”
