What is the difference between PDM and PLM?
PDM manages files: the vault, version history, and who is working on what. PLM manages the product: bills of materials, changes, projects, and suppliers. On 3DEXPERIENCE, both are in the same environment: PDM is included in SOLIDWORKS licenses, and PLM roles can be activated on top of that as needed, without migration or data transfer.
Do we need a server to manage our data?+
No. Everything is hosted on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform: no servers to scale, no backups to monitor, no updates to schedule. Your teams can log in with their credentials, even when they're away from the office.
What will happen to our current PDM system (SOLIDWORKS PDM or network folders)?+
Your existing data will be imported along with its index history. Ohmycad manages the import process: directory structure, naming conventions, permissions, and a phased transition on a per-project basis rather than a "big bang" approach.
Will it work if our designers continue to use SOLIDWORKS Desktop?+
Yes. SOLIDWORKS installed on the workstation connects to the platform: records, revisions, and bills of materials are uploaded through the usual interface, without the need for duplicate data entry.
Is our data hosted in Europe?+
Yes. Our European hosting is powered by OUTSCALE, which is ISO 27001-certified and SecNumCloud-certified, with encryption at rest and in transit.
How much does data management cost?+
PDM is included with SOLIDWORKS licenses on 3DEXPERIENCE: no additional setup is required to manage revisions, indices, and access rights. PLM roles are subscribed to on a per-user basis: Ohmycad provides a quote based on the number of users involved and the processes to be covered.
