Would you like to become 3DEXPERIENCE Trainer ? Good idea, there's a lot of demand for this “tech job.” Even though it might seem like a challenge, by following the right steps, you can become a “Super Coach” 3DEXPERIENCE, and why not start or continue your career at XDI? 🙂

First of all, it’s important to be proficient in one of the two CAD programs, that goes without saying! This means having a solid understanding of all the software’s features and being able to use them effectively. If you’re not yet comfortable with SOLIDWORKS or CATIA, we recommend that you complete all of the CAD training courses in the XDI catalog. Note that XDI is a center for Dassault Systèmes Certified Training, this means you can be sure you'll be following the certification program. Important to note!

Once you have a good understanding of the software, and, most importantly, once you’ve used it in a professional setting, you’ll be able to earn certifications. There are several certifications available for CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, and all roles on the platform. For example, one such certification is CSWA or certification Certified SolidWorks Professional. But the ultimate «Holy Grail» in the SW ecosystem remains the certification CSWE(Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert). It is one of the most respected and recognized certifications in the industry. This certification demonstrates your SOLIDWORKS skills and can help you stand out to potential employers (training centers). The cost of this certification is approximately €150. You can purchase it online. At XDI, this is the goal for every new hire in the technical department! In the meantime, you can take a short SOLIDWORKS skills test consisting of just a few questions. It’s a brief questionnaire that gives you an initial idea of your skill level and the types of questions you’ll encounter.

In addition to proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and CATIA and certification, teaching experience is also crucial to becoming an effective instructor. If you don’t yet have teaching experience, you can get involved in tutoring or mentoring projects to gain teaching experience. Teaching skills can be learned, but it’s also a natural aptitude. If you enjoy explaining things, helping others understand, and are patient (after all, not all learners progress at the same pace!), this job is undoubtedly right for you.

It’s also important to stay up to date on SOLIDWORKS updates and new features. Software is constantly evolving, and it’s essential to stay current so you can teach your students the latest features. It’s worth noting that for the more «experienced» among you (not to say the older ones :)), an upgrade on 3DEXPERIENCE, the cloud, cybersecurity, and more will be essential to help your clients navigate the latest Dassault Systèmes technologies.

Finally, to become a SOLIDWORKS or CATIA trainer, it’s important to develop a personal marketing strategy to make yourself known to companies and individuals looking for trainers. This may include creating a website or blog to showcase your skills in CAD and simulation. A well-filled-out LinkedIn profile that includes all the relevant keywords for your skills, certifications, etc., is essential.

By following these steps, you can become a 3DEXPERIENCE super coach, Qualified and respected, capable of sharing your knowledge and expertise with enthusiastic students. Don’t forget to continue learning and growing as a teacher to maintain your competence and relevance in the industry.

A CAD instructor can work for a company, at a training center, or as a self-employed professional. Salaries for SOLIDWORKS or CATIA training experts range from €25,000 to €40,000 per year, depending on your experience, certifications, and areas of expertise (Simulation, Design, PDM, etc.). The profession of CAD Instructor, is an exciting career that will bring you into contact with many designers, technicians, and engineers.
