Interview – MYAGO3D

Interview: MYAGO 3D

Today, let's meet Ms. Gabrielle Sebti, the founder of the company MYAGO 3D.

Lucie P-L: "Could you please introduce yourself?"

Gabrielle S: “My name is Gabrielle SEBTI. I’m a mother of three, I live in Blois, and I gradually became interested in everything related to computer graphics and drawing. Little by little, I moved into the world of CAD, that is, 3D object modeling. I started bringing my usual 2D work into 3D. Little by little, I became interested in CAD, so my husband and I invested in a 3D printer, and that’s how it all started.”.

So I started making small objects, designing them, creating models of them, and then our friends reached out to us asking for some pieces. We also got a request from my husband’s company at first, and things really took off from there. I finally decided to start this problem-solving service company by 3D design and printing. The goal is to help either individuals or businesses resolve their personal issues.

My company specializes in solving problems through 3D design and printing. So we’re here to support and advise businesses and individuals on their internal challenges. For example: a broken part, an innovative part that needs to be designed, or a project to be carried out based on an initial idea, and we’re here either to support them or to carry out the project ourselves. So this can also involve model-making, prototyping, and so on.

We also have an emergency service called “3DL,” which allows us to respond quickly to help companies address issues with broken parts or parts that need to be produced urgently. We also have a catalog of everyday parts available for both individuals and businesses.”

L: "What are your needs and challenges when it comes to 3D design?"

G: “ It's the ability to use software that is responsive and easy to use. Something that would also allow me to design objects for industry, in the fields of design, healthcare, and so on. In other words, something that would let me design and then produce all my objects.

”An easy-to-use, high-performance tool that's compatible with the software used by manufacturers."

L: "Why did you choose 3D EXPERIENCE?"

G: “That’s why, at first, we had planned to CATIA V5, then 3D EXPERIENCE which is a logical next step where we have this compatibility.

”Because 3D software isn't always compatible (though you can usually find a way around it), and that can be a problem (not being able to correct or edit the files)."

L: “In your opinion, what are the two or three aspects that best characterize the platform?”

G: “ The first benefit for me is that I can easily work on the same project both at the office and at home if I haven’t had time to finish it. And I didn’t have to buy 36 licenses just to have one on each computer. So that’s a huge advantage. It lets me “switch” between multiple devices. In my opinion, that’s an undeniable advantage.

It's a very user-friendly program; it has little shortcuts and little features that are very convenient to use, features that aren't available on CATIA For example (even if it's just for writing text, for instance). Personally, I need to make quite a few changes, especially when it comes to marking (for customization and tailoring). So for me, this is a better fit!

I’m on my own, so I don’t need to share it. Well, every now and then my husband can also work on it remotely from his computer (in another room or another part of town!). So he can open it and make changes. It’s this digital format that’s really interesting and helps us get better organized and manage our time.”

L: "A few words about your experience with XDI?"

G: "File management could use a little improvement (saving files is a bit complicated). That’s the only minor downside. Another thing I really like is that it’s organized with small icons, it’s pretty neat and tidy. We can set our favorites and organize the available features according to our needs. Instead of having to search for them in a list, we can actually highlight them, which is pretty nice.".

Then there’s the way the files are organized, as I said, there are pros and cons, just like with anything. Once everything is organized and in order, it’s much simpler (all you have to do is drag, click, etc.). And you can easily switch from one file to another. I’ve had mostly very positive feedback on the platform."

L: "What do you think is the platform's added value?"

G: “The great thing is that we can add features as we go along, based on our needs. We can test certain features first, and then gradually adjust the applications to meet our needs. It’s precisely this adaptability, it’s not a big package, but rather application by application, so we end up with a tool that’s tailored to and takes our needs into account, rather than a one-size-fits-all solution or a specific package.”

L: "Can you tell us a little about your experience with XDI?"

G: «At first, it wasn’t easy because it was a different way of working, so I had a little trouble at the beginning. The mistake I made early on was not reaching out to the XDI staff. There’s a whole learning curve involved, it’s a different way of doing things, so you have to adapt and not be afraid to ask for help and advice (which I didn’t do at first because I wasn’t used to it). Little by little, I’m getting used to it, and it’s more interactive.

Kilian was able to guide me through file management. He showed me what to use and how to use it. He gave me great advice because he also pointed me toward applications that allowed me to tailor my tools to what I wanted to do. In fact, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help and seek advice when you hit a roadblock.

I'm very happy with it, there are still one or two things I can't quite figure out, but I'm working on them with Kilian!

”Finally, I think we really need to help out at the beginning with managing the platform because it's not that simple, there are so many things we can do!"
